I just came from my Riyadh 5 days trip after i attended my final written exam from the Arab board for internal medicine...the exam was unusual and focused on the details of the details that you usually read in the medical textbook then you forget it because it is very rare or they are very unusual to come in the exams...I TRIED MY BEST ,i'm keeping my hopes high and i really need to pass this exam.
Anyhow i liked my trip ....I went by car with my parents who like car journeys ....to my surprise i liked their company ....they are actually fun and it is amazing seeing the kind of compassionate dynamic going on between them after 28 years of marriage...the thing I forgot about since i took my own apartment 4 YEARS ago in a female compound at my work place ...the trip was about 1000 km long but i collected a valuable a mount of memories with my beloved and simple mom and dad....
I remembered that my father hate spicy food but he eats with my mom...I REMEMBERED how i used to wake up on the great smell of my mother Arabian coffee ...she wakes up at the crack of dawn to prepare the best breakfast available ,and then launch 7 people of us to work and different school then she goes to her work...with a smile on her face...
My parents are very different from each other and both are very opinionated. from time to time we gear them arguing about something but we always knew that it is OK as both either will just let go of it or they will find a totally different third mutual option or common ground to go for .i think this the secret of that kept their marriage a live....
I also liked being in Riyadh....it has its own flavor ...the first thing we saw the streets of Riyadh which were bejeweled with Saudi flags and pictures of the king and the crown prince showing the eagerness of his return....I believe last night the crown prince returned home after a yearlong absence for treatment of an undisclosed illness. SINCE then and Saudi Arabia in a celebration mode ...it really happy moments seeing our beloved prince walking and smiling although he looks thinner ...Thanks to God Almighty that we have these happy moments that we have our crown prince in the country Among his people, with a better health , next to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah his brother .
THEN we landed( 2 days ago ) in this old neighborhood called Albatha...It full of Indian community... you feel that you are in India literally...the shops ..people who walk on the sidelines , the restaurants , even the sings which written in English and Hindu only ...it was the time of the noon prayer and short after the Adan , a car for the religious police
( The Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice) came out calling people go to the prayer ....this matter is rarely seen in Mecca and usually in shopping area but in Riyadh usually they appear anywhere in prayers times...
Then there is Al-olayah a very prestigious area with great architectural building and full hotels and furnished apartments for rents..we stayed at one of those apartments it was consisting of 4 bedrooms 1 bathroom and a kitchen ...it was spacious , and it was comfy ....
We went for gift shopping yesterday in one of the mall ...now me and my mom went inside the mall we looked at all the shops in the first floor and we did not find what we liked so we decided to go to the next floor...we rode the escalator ,we were talking about what to buy and suddenly the escalator stopped , i lost my balance and fell down the escalator...i came of it OK except for my dignity that was hurt...my mom who was frantic came to me and asking if I was OK...how ever i tried to put it behind ad put ''on my i do not care'' mask and continued my shopping their. OMG I think this my most embarrassing thing ever happened to me and no one els fell !!! except me ...after my 3 hours shopping spree with my mom in this mall and another mall we we felt sorry for leaving my dad a lone...AND CALLED HIM to take us dine out :D how THOUGHTFUL OF US ,he did and then we call it for the night. The next day we were a waken by my mom cofee and after a high calories breakfast we drove back home...after spendig great quality time with my parent...
